在计算水工建筑物土壤地基的沉降量时,现在最通用的办法就是假定土壤在受压时不发生横向变形。这个假定并不符合事实,因此这样的计算结果是比较粗糙的。苏联水工建筑物设计规范了T_y24—103—40“地基的地质技术计算”建议在编制Ⅰ,Ⅱ级建筑物的技术计算时应该攷虑到地基土壤横向变形的影响,并且规范推荐用下列公式计算沉降量:
When calculating the settlement of soil foundations in hydraulic buildings, the most common method now is to assume that the soil does not undergo lateral deformation when it is pressurized. This assumption does not correspond to the facts, so the results of such calculations are relatively crude.
