The authors reviewed the various properties available with phased arrays and carefully defined active phased arrays. He described hybrid and monolithic module construction methods and major RF power devices (bipolar transistors and field effect transistors). For the purpose of using active phased arrays, the authors describe common problems such as reduced loss, reliability, cost, and other performance benefits, pointing out that reducing losses is the most important from an engineering point of view. After a brief review of the state of the art, the authors suggested that radar engineers should do more work on the technology side and suggested that you should conduct a study on the current system-level development (MESAR like Plessey, UK).
