For a long time, the studies of Zhangjiakou in the Qing Dynasty mostly focused on commercial trade, emphasizing economic functions, neglecting or neglecting the military and political functions and their stimulating and promoting effects on economic development, and even went as far as determining whether the city was a commercial city or a port city of foreign trade. Through careful study of the Qing court’s construction of Zhangjiakou into a military center that controls Mongolia and the borderland, the historical hub of the government and the official post hub, and the special functions of the state and the court life undertaken by Zhangjiakou in addition to supervision and taxation, The investigation of frontier society and culture reveals the inherent logic and dynamic changes of Zhangjiakou city’s functional development in Qing Dynasty.
