研究南京直立人产地葫芦洞内沉积中的植硅体及其气候指数,结果表明洞内植硅体组合以示冷类型居优,温暖指数较低,总的气候格局反映为偏冷型,说明洞内沉积可能在很大程度上与当时的冰期气候相联系,与哺乳动物化石所揭示的北方型动物群特征和孢粉组合所指示的温带气候环境相一致。根据洞内4个剖面植硅体及其气候指数的分布情况,反映气候在剖面Ⅰ和剖面Ⅱ上呈一定的冷暖、干湿波动;剖面皿显示湿冷环境,湿度在整个洞内沉积中为最高;而剖面Ⅳ除底部和顶部外,气候指数的分布比较稳定,可能代表了一种快速的堆积过程。
