Objective: To investigate the correlation between non-HDL-C and microangiopathy in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods: The levels of total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) were measured in 134 T2DM patients. According to the formula non-HDL-C = TC-HDL-C calculated non-HDL-C content, and with 60 healthy subjects (normal control group) were compared. Results: The levels of TC, TG, LDL-C and non-HDL-C in T2DM group were higher than those in normal control group. The above indexes in T2DM patients with microvascular disease were higher than those without T2DM (P <0.05) In patients with T2DM without microvascular lesions (P <0.05). HDL-C in patients with T2DM without microangiopathy was slightly lower than that in the normal control group (P> 0.05). T2DM microangiopathy was positively correlated with TC, TG, LDL-C and non-HDL-C, and negatively correlated with HDL-C, and the correlation between non-HDL-C and T2DM microangiopathy was better than that of TG, TC and LDL-C. Conclusion: There is a good correlation between non-HDL-C, a sensitive indicator of dyslipidemia and T2DM microangiopathy.
