The growing voice of raising labor productivity has forced the search for new and reasonable solutions. The issue of how to simplify drilling and tapping on larger parts is often overlooked. The combination machine KR-5 is a solution to this problem. The KR-5 combines a turret head and crimping table that can be rotated to several processing stations. The machine has been designed and put into production at the CKD Lokomotivka plant in 1979. The KR-5 combination machine is used for drilling and tapping on the swing arm of a diesel locomotive. Swing arm (Figure 1) is cast steel, net weight 226 kg. M16 screw holes machined on the φ350 pitch circle are machined on the machine tool, and φ30H8 holes and φ6 holes are also machined. All the holes are machined with the workpiece being clamped once.
