The Xiangshan Foothills in the northwestern part of Laiwu City, Shandong Province, a kind of “black stone” that has been sleeping for tens of millions of years, has now become a fine architectural decoration. After two batches of raw materials were floated across the sea last year, and after transiting to Japan, the second granite factory in Laiwu recently signed a 400-square-meter supply contract for export plates with Canadian merchants. This type of granite, called “Laiwuhei”, was discovered by the Provincial Bureau of Geology and Minerals and distributed on vein belts with a length of 7.5 kilometers and a width of 15 meters. The distribution of mineral deposits is shallow and easy to mechanize. The granite stone is hard, has a deep color, high gloss, acid and alkali resistance, and is a rare species in domestic and foreign markets. It is not only a superior architectural decoration material, but also can be used for carving. It is used to decorate hotels, auditoriums and living rooms to make people feel elegant and rather solemn; it can be used to decorate dance halls and bars for colorful, confusing and cheerful places.
