Objective: To explore the effect of general medical management on controlling blood pressure and reducing cardiovascular events in elderly patients with hypertension. Methods: A total of 2000 elderly hypertensive patients admitted to our hospital from January 2010 to January 2013 were selected as research subjects. The patients were divided into General Practice Management Group (A), General Medicine Management Group (Group B) and control group (group C). The improvement of blood pressure and the incidence of cardiovascular events were compared among the three groups before and after intervention. Results: After the intervention, systolic blood pressure decreased in all three groups before intervention, diastolic blood pressure in group A was lower than that before intervention, blood pressure improvement in group A was better than group B and group C, and systolic blood pressure in group B was better than group C, All the above differences were statistically significant (P <0.05). After one year of follow-up, there was significant difference in the incidence of cardiovascular events between the three groups (P <0.05). Conclusion: The general medical management mode can better control the blood pressure in elderly patients with hypertension, and can reduce the incidence of cardiovascular events.
