大家知道,彩色胶片的密度测定是比较复杂的,使用不同的红、绿、蓝滤色镜,会得到不同的测值。比较通用的红、绿、蓝滤色镜是著名的雷登92、93、94。从1946年起,柯达公司开始使用称为A状态的三色滤色镜测定彩色反转片。1963年该公司发表了M状态密度滤色镜,用以测定彩底、彩中、彩翻底以及需要上印片机印片的所有片种。1973年柯达公司进一步把密度测定的光谱条件标准化,提出了A状态和M状态密度的响应函数。在仪器光谱特性满足规定的仪器响应后,就能使用柯达保证的AA和MM滤
