妓女身份,却吸引陈寅恪先生晚年在“目盲足膑”之时耗费十余年为其作传。她因胆识、才情、侠义精神而为文人所折服,这在理学昌盛、男性话语做主导的明清较为罕见。在男权文化下,为生存计,她接受妓女身份规训却令封建礼教缺失;常以“任诞”的女扮男装形象出现,形成大胆另类的行事作风;在价值观、政治取向上意欲与男子看齐,但在强势男权文化中,其女性意识的觉醒却与以女子身份实现自我价值之间存在着悖论。
