Selective feeding of marine mesozooplankton largely affects changes in phytoplankton population, controlling the rhythm, size and fate of marine primary productivity. In this paper, the control of pest algal blooms by selective feeding of marine mesozooplankton, the selective feeding mechanism of mid-sized zooplankton, the research method of selective feeding of mid-sized zooplankton and the selective feeding model of mid-sized zooplankton are discussed in this paper. The effects of selective feeding on controlling the succession of phytoplankton population provide a scientific basis for further predicting and controlling the occurrence of harmful algal blooms.
