Nine kinds of nitro compounds were reduced with 50% hydrazine hydrate in the presence of ferric chloride hexahydrate and activated carbon. The yield of the obtained product was between 70% -92%, with good purity. In the case of phenol ether, only three of the nitro groups were reduced. The yield of the corresponding nitro-amino compound was 75%.
