Computer Hardware and Electronics Awards: Nestor / Intel Ni1000 Chipsetters: Michael Grayer and Mark Horler While people imagine that science-simulation robots can see, think and explore the world on their own, In real life, it is difficult for robots to imitate human being even the simplest behavior. Nestor of Rhode Island and Intel Corp. of California have jointly developed an identification accelerator chip called the Ni1000 that uses the latest technology to mimic the brain’s intelligence. A machine equipped with a Ni1000 chip can better afford the task of identifying faces that is quite difficult with conventional computers.
