With the advancing of globalization, the high school broke through the boundaries of the past schools because of the region, state and country. Teachers guide students from all over the world, while students work with thousands of miles beyond their peers to research innovative projects and solve challenging problems. The network environment that connects students and teachers around the world has undergone tremendous changes. The virtual professional learning community and the network learning model have been continuously developed to facilitate the cooperation among schools. In 2010, the National People’s Congress High School and the Princeton International Mathematical and Physical Education School in the United States contributed to the cooperation of students from both schools in a student-led scientific research project. In the four-year cooperation, there are both successful experiences and lessons learned. This article analyzes the opportunities and challenges that international cooperative research projects face from the perspective of students and managers. The co-authors at the end of the article made valuable suggestions to schools interested in developing similar projects.
