Owing to the physicochenical characteristics of rare earth elements, they have been used in industry, agriculture and medicine. The security of rare earth compounds has got concern because they may affect directly on human when used in agriculture and medicine. Nucleic acid plays great role in biological heredity. We studied the effect of rare earth compounds on the integrity of DNA and RNA of different biological living material in vitro. The results show that inorganic rare earth compound CeCl 3 has effect on cleavage on DNA and RNA with temperature, dose dependence. Organic rare earth compound LaCit and CeCit do not have notable effect of cleavage.
