Early-stage gastric cancer (EGC) is defined as a cancer that invades only the mucosa or submucosa. Regardless of lymph node metastasis (LNM), it is now considered to be a curable malignancy. The recurrence rate of EGC is very low, about 1.4% to 8.3%, and its LNM rate is from 7.8% to 20.1%. The impact of lymph node metastasis on survival after EGC treatment remains controversial. Many studies have reported that LNM reduces EGC survival, but two reports that LNM has no significant correlation with survival rate. These earlier reports are based on the results of less than 500 cases, while others are based on comprehensive survival data, which removes Died of EGC unrelated diseases. This study clarified the characteristics of LNM EGC and examined the effect of LNM on survival after treatment of EGC patients.
