Oral contraceptives (OCs) are synthetic preparations of synthetic estrogen and progestin that protect women from unwanted pregnancies when taken properly. After more than 50 years of development and research and development, there have been new and secure OCs coming out. However, the data of the national family planning shows that their use and promotion in China are not satisfactory. This paper uses the diagnostic tree approach to explore the underlying causes and draws three key points to improve the status quo: (1) Advocacy of the public informed choice of a variety of contraceptive methods; (2) promotion of the model of the service provider; (3) improvement of the OC service delivery system in China .
