目的对1922年6月底至1924年6月底美国俄亥俄州立大学的科学教育专家乔治.兰森.推士教授(George Ransom Twiss,1863—1944)应中华教育改进社、中国科学社等团体的邀请来华的两年考察和研究活动作全面研究,为中国近现代科学教育史研究提供新线索。方法原始文献考证与分析。结果依据推士所著《中国的科学与教育》,并参考其他文献,对推士的此次中国之行的缘起、主要活动和他对中国科学教育状况的认识以及建议进行了概略的描述。结论推士等美国教育专家来华进行考察,广泛宣传国外各种教育新思潮,形成了一股教育革新的浪潮,对中国后来教育改革、教育体制、科学教育的内容和方法改进、科学教师和训练以及科学人才的培养等,都产生了深远的历史影响。结合中国大批从国外归来的留学生的不懈努力,从而直接和间接地促进了中国的现代化运动。
Objectives From the end of June 1922 to the end of June 1924, George Ransom Twiss (1863-1944), an expert on science education at Ohio State University, was invited by China Education Improvement Association and China Science Society The two-year study and research activities of Hua made a comprehensive study, providing new clues for the study of the history of modern Chinese science education.
