研究普遍认为,威廉斯的名剧《玻璃动物园》中描述了一群失败者,一群挣扎在社会边缘的逃避者、孤独者和梦幻者。而本文将利用庄子思想对该剧人物(阿曼达,吉姆,劳拉)进行相反解读:三人在通往心灵转化的道路上代表了三个不同的层次,而劳拉正视真我,是拥有精神自由的女庄子。同时,她意识到“伪装艺术”在适应残酷现代社会中的重要性,这不仅是对庄子思想的可行明智应用,同时也深化了庄子思想的内涵。
The study generally agreed that Williams’s play “Glass Zoo” described a group of losers, a group of refugees, loner and fantasy who struggled on the margins of society. And this article will use Zhuang Zi’s thought to reverse interpretations of the play’s characters (Amanda, Jim, Laura): the three represent three different levels on the path to spiritual transformation, and Laura looks at the real one as possessing Free spirit of the Zhuangzi. At the same time, she realizes the importance of “camouflage art” in adapting to the brutal modern society. This is not only a viable and sensible application of Chuang Tzu’s thought but also deepens the connotation of Chuang Tzu’s thought.
