Using the 2009 CHNS data, we use the HLM method to decompose the direct and indirect influences of occupations on the allocation of time for household work in urban and rural areas. The gender inequality in the allocation of housework time among rural households is more serious than that of urban households, and the occupational difference between urban and rural labor force is one of the influencing factors. The educational attainment level of occupational practitioners is positively correlated with the domestic time distribution of male laborers in urban and rural areas. However, There is a negative correlation between the household time distribution of male workers in urban and rural areas. The academic qualifications of occupational environment have an indirect regulatory effect on the domestic household labor division patterns and time allocation options, but there is a difference between urban and rural areas, but the income characteristics of occupational environment and indirect influence The allocation of housework time for female labor force; the flexibility of occupation time does not have obvious influence on the choice of labor housework time. The empirical findings in this article have realistic policy implications.
