关于传统中国是否有西方意义上悲剧这个问题,以王国维先生为代表的学者的回答是肯定的,并且还对《红楼梦》等一批文学作品的背景性进行了解读。钱锺书先生的看法是由于道德传统的差别,传统中国并没有西方严格意义上的悲剧,并提出了自己的背景观。本文尝试以钱的这种观点对美国小说家福克纳的短篇小说《烧马棚》进行分析,以彰显钱锺书先生的这个观点。
The question whether traditional China tragedies in the West sense is answered affirmatively by scholars like Wang Guowei, and also analyzes the background of a number of literary works such as A Dream of Red Mansions. Mr. Qian’s view is that because of differences in moral traditions, traditional China does not have a tragedy in the strict sense of the West and proposes its own background. This article attempts to analyze this view of money by analyzing the Faulkner short story Burning Potted House by American novelist Faulkner to highlight Mr. Qian’s view.
