OBJECTIVE: Calcified occlusive root canal seriously affects the effect of root canal therapy. The application of EDTA paste in calcification occlusion root canal preparation was evaluated to evaluate the clinical curative effect and to improve the quality of oral root canal therapy. Methods: From October 2011 to October 2014, 136 patients, 180 post-molars and 205 calcified occlusive canals in our hospital were selected. All patients were divided into group A and group B according to the random number table . A group of 78 cases of 90 post-molar calcification 98 obturator root canal with EDTA paste into the root canal occlusion for root canal preparation, or root canal within a week after the temporary EDTA for root canal preparation. In group B, 78 cases of 90 post-molar molars and 107 calcified occlusive canals were prepared with clopidogrel and root canal preparation. Then, the results of root canal preparation were compared between the two groups according to X-ray and clinical indexes. Results: A total of 98 calcified root canal in experimental group A, with 84 root canal expanded, were well prepared and reached the requirement of root canal preparation with a success rate of 85.71%. In group B, only 107 root canal calcifications were expanded, with a success rate of 22.43%. There was a significant difference between the two groups (P <0.01). Conclusion: EDTA paste for calcification of the root canal preparation is effective, which can significantly improve the rate of unblocked root canal calcification, improve the quality of oral root canal treatment, effective retention of the affected teeth.
