According to the US Journal, the annual report released by Duracell in the United States for the first time in 1991 shows that the company currently employs 7,900 people (including 3,700 in North America and 2,700 in Europe). Alkaline batteries account for 43% of the U.S. market and 47% of the European market. In 1989, it sold 1.649 billion alkaline batteries with sales of 1.249 billion U.S. dollars; in 1990, it sold 1.706 billion alkaline batteries with sales of 1.335 billion U.S. dollars; in 1991 it sold 1.842 billion alkaline batteries, and its sales were 18.54 billion U.S. dollars.
