I. INTRODUCTION For the determination of the particle composition of cohesive soil less than 0.1 mm, the most common method currently used is the hydrometer method. Because of hydrometer method, easy to operate, easy to grasp, good accuracy, especially suitable for mass production. However, for the finishing of test results, the procedure is more complicated. Practice has proved that such a calculation method is not only time consuming, inefficient, and prone to calculation errors, and is also difficult for inspection and review work.
