MT金属硫蛋白(metallothionein)是一类低分子量富含半胱氨酸的内源性小分子蛋白,它广泛存在于生物界。自从1957年由哈佛大学的Margoshe和Vallee首次从马的肾脏中分离出来后,人们对MT的研究已涉及医药、生物化学、分子生物学、环境科学、营养学、保健科学等诸多领域,其特殊的分子结构和独特的生物学功能在疾病的发生、发展、诊断及发病机制探讨中显示了十分重要作用。目前,MT在肿瘤的发生、发展、诊断以及治疗方面的作用,愈来愈受到各国学者的广泛关注。
