This article explores the role of the beta integrin family and CD44 adhesion molecules in the pathogenesis of asthma. Flow cytometry was used to detect the expression of CD11a on peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and the expression of CD18 and CD44 on the surface of PBMC in asthmatic guinea pigs. Results: (1) The expression of CD11a on PBMC of asthmatic guinea pigs was significantly higher than that of the control group (P <0.01), dexamethasone inhibited the expression of CD11a; (2) The expression of CD18 and CD44 on PBMC of asthmatic patients was significantly higher than that of the normal controls P <0 0 1). So that cell adhesion molecules involved in the pathophysiology of asthma, glucocorticoids can inhibit the expression of cell adhesion molecules, play an anti-inflammatory effect.
