I. INTRODUCTION For most applications, the measurement of the radiation in the ultraviolet spectral region has so far been limited by the absorption of the Earth’s atmosphere. For observations in the Earth’s atmosphere, the ionosphere of oxygen and nitrogen sets the lower limit to about 185 nm, while for the extraterrestrial measurements, the Hartley Ozone Strip increases the lower limit to about 280 nm. Due to the space technology of rockets and satellites, invisible physics may enter a new ultraviolet region that includes ultraviolet regions other than the continuous strong absorption (interstellar absorption) regions of helium and hydrogen. true
