东京都是日本的最大城市,也是世界上有数的特大城市之一。东京都有人口1193万人,约占全国总人口的10％;面积2166平方公里,人口密度每平方公里5508人。现在东京都实际上已与千叶、琦玉、神奈川等县的一些城镇连成一片。所谓的“首都圈”约有三千万人口。这个地区又是物价水平最高的。稳定该地区的物价关系重大。
Tokyo is Japan’s largest city and one of the largest megacities in the world. Tokyo has a population of 11.93 million, accounting for about 10% of the country’s total population; it covers an area of 2166 square kilometers and has a population density of 5508 people per square kilometer. Tokyo is now virtually in line with some towns in Chiba, Saitama and Kanagawa counties. The so-called “metropolitan area” has a population of about 30 million. This area is the highest price level. Stabilizing the price in this area is of great importance.
