Kamakura Residence, designed by a client who has long collected Buddhist artwork, uses a modern expression under the influence of Japanese culture. The residence is located in a secluded residential area in Kamakura, a coastal city on the south coast of Tokyo, approximately an hour’s drive from Tokyo. The home base has a strong historical background: there is a Shinto shrine and a hand-crafted cave on the cliff that once belonged to a dedicated Samurai factory in the 11th century. The home is one of three buildings in the base, and adjacent to it is an art that specializes in artwork
