  China Textile City, located at Yangtze River delta and founded in October 1988, is the worldrenowned textile-specific wholesale market in China for the largest size in market area, the highest record in business deals and the most abundant varieties in the product-lines. The specialized market covers an area of 3.65 million square meters, including 25 thousand business booths, 40-thousand varieties and 28- thousand venders, as well as 1,200 permanent business enterprises and foreign agencies with 6,000 foreign purchasers.
  In recent years, the specialized market, known as China Textile City, has reached a new high continuously on year-on-year basis in the trade value for a breakthrough in 2014, registering 123.813 billion yuan in transactions and more than 4 billion dollars in export, over 10 billion yuan in the turnover of “online textile city”, and 4 million tons in the freight volume. In the fabric-specific market, the value of transaction reached 74.21 billion yuan, including $4 billion of foreign trade (about 24.8 billion yuan) that accounts for one-third of the total fabric deals. The market presents an overall stable performance in 2015 as is proven by the statistics that show the market turnover is steadily growing and market operation keeps stable and prosperous.
  In the period of the “12th Five-Year Program”, the local CPC Committee and Government in Keqiao, an administrative district of Shaoxing City, made great efforts to promote China Textile City to “start a new undertaking”, a new chapter in the development of the specialized market. To be more precise, the textile city speeds up the construction pace in market clusterization, modernization and internationalization, accelerating industrial agglomeration, market competitiveness and international influence significantly. With the more reasonable layout of China Textile City by the end of the “12th Five-Year Program”, the market pattern including five markets in “south, middle, north, west and east” will have basically taken shape, two times larger than that in 2006.
  The market configuration tends to be more complete
  With the products classified into category-specific trade rendezvous, the specialized market that consists of wool textile, knitting, cotton fabric, curtain, home textile, and garments is taking shape consecutively according to different categories while the type of business extends from previous dependence on raw materials and fabrics to a focus on upstream sectors like chemicals, machinery, gray fabric and downstream garment accessories, home textile products. The variety of products in business also takes on a shift from the fore-going preponderance on chemical-fiber fabrics to a more concerted portfolio of chemical fiber, cotton, wool and silk textiles and apparels, basically covering all kinds of textile products and forming an all-climate market pattern to ensure that “the off-season is not pale; the peak season is much busier”.   The market merchants increased rapidly
  The market management team is doing well in inviting investors and keeping them stay firm to the market for good reasons. And this in-pairs policy is implemented, attaching equal importance to the investment both from sellers and buyers, home and abroad. Since the beginning of “starting a new undertaking”, the number of registered enterprises has increased significantly in the market clusters with the quantity of individual-owned businesses and trading companies going on the rise to more than 21,000 and nearly 6,900, respectively up by 2.5 times and by seven-fold margin in recent ten years, including the growing number of foreign representative agents and commercial enterprises at annual increase of more than 130 on average accordingly.
  The market transaction remains high continuously
  Keeping the trade active and prosperous is the core driving force for sustainable development in China Textile City. The business transaction in market clusters swirled up from 44.9 billion yuan in 2005 to 123.813 billion yuan in 2014 at annual growth rate by over 10 percent with the same speed realized in freight volumes for over 4 million tons. In the meanwhile, E-commerce also came up on a sharp rise in 2011, to such an extent that the business rocketed up in the second half of 2012, and reached 11.272 billion yuan in 2014 , up by 89.83 percent over a comparable period, in online transaction concluded in value term. Right now, there are 2.05 million members in registered record, with 620,000 online booths and 2.3 million visits in website traffic, 78,811 business entities and traders in this e-commerce kingdom.
  There’s growing influence from the market
  Keqiao market influence gains more momentum, thanks to the annual trade fairChina Keqiao International Textile Expo (Spring and Autumn editions every year),to the market barometer- “China Keqiao Textile Index” released successfully ever since 2007, and to the city’s promotional compaign for “Globe Clothed in Keqiao Fabric”, a golden card for doing business with the world.
  The foreign export of the city maintains growth
  Facing such a depressed international situation, China Textile City still enjoys large export shares and scale. In the first half of 2015, the turnover of fabric market is 35.901 billion yuan and the number of exporters is 1,457 enterprises on the basis of their real export performance that concluded $1.773 billion, with an increase of 0.55% year on year. At present, the export is focused mainly on Europe, America, Middle East, South Africa, Latin America and other regions, moreover, the market in emerging countries such as Russia and kazakhstan is also being targeted at an increasing rate.
  During the period of the “13th Five-Year Program”, the government of Keqiao promotes “the third stage of pioneering works”, a strategy with the goal to build Keqiao into a textile city of fashion characterizing internationality, vogue, intellectuality and versatility. China Textile City will take the lead in shaping for the future in the course of boosting the rapid development of vogue creativity, e-commerce, modern logistics, exhibition economy, modern finance, culture, sports, etc..
