Past experience shows that this is usually the case because energy consumption is not adequately managed and the root cause of the problem is management rather than technology or equipment. This paper suggests that to maintain any ideal pattern of energy consumption throughout the life cycle of a building, manageability must be established during the first stages of the building concept.
