Non-motor symptoms (NMS) are an important part of Parkinson’s disease (PD). Compared with exercise symptoms, NMS has a greater impact on patients’ quality of life, escort costs and disease burden, and is a “pre-exercise” clinical biomarker . However, the actual clinical diagnosis and treatment tend to be more concerned about motor symptoms. Given that most NMSs that make patients uncomfortable are manageable, the NMS, whose importance is far undervalued, has become an clinically important and urgent task and challenge. This article reviews the neuropathological basis, clinical presentation, and how to evaluate and manage NMS.
