The construction of contemporary “place ” theory is deadlocked, people disregard their own views, and cross-level thinking is conducive to nurturing a new “sense of place” paradigm. Cross-level thinking refers to switching back and forth between different levels of hierarchy, zooming in and out, and placing local-global discussions in the context of “level ” and “attachment ”. At present, many environmental texts, such as photographic works and writings, use strategies for adjusting the level of “earth attachment” to help contemporary readers understand the deep connection between self and place from a variety of perspectives. Cross-level thinking means combining the subtlety of experience at a particular place with the universality of the global experience to understand the real impact that people’s life has on the environment and to foster new understandings that may be effective in coping with the harsh realities of today’s world Get used to habits and ways of thinking to adapt people to a changing world and to push them to overcome the tendency to turn a blind eye to potentially paralyzing abstract issues.
