In the history of modern Western art, futurism is a movement that takes precedence over style. It first appeared in the field of literature by the Italian poet Filippo Tommaso Marinetti. In the autumn of 1908, Marinetti wrote a declaration as a preface to his forthcoming collection of poems. The “Berserk Brutal Declaration” provocatively expressed its hatred of rigidified traditional culture and its praise of the emerging technological civilization.
