Game is one of the oldest human activities in history. As an indispensable cultural phenomenon, the game has been incorporated into the field of study by academia. From the perspective of computer theory, pedagogy, psychology and cultural criticism, Game research is already a bit of a niche, and game-specific “Ludology” has emerged. However, in the theory circle, there is no concept of game recognized by the academic circles for a long time. The basis of these studies is highly questioned. This paper combs the three main ways of definition of “game”, analyzes the game as a text systematically, uses the basic principles and methods of semiology, and finally finds out the concept of “game” through demonstration. A reasonable definition of form builds a solid foundation for game semiotics.
