大洋的多种构造地质环境中，至今为止已发现了众多热液硫化物矿床和矿化点，其中有一些是大型矿床。分析研究发现，一个矿床的形成有多种控制条件，这些大型硫化物矿床的形成受到多个条件的综合控制，其中的每一个条件通常仅能形成与该条件相适应的小且不稳定的矿床。
