Autonomous vehicles must be able to accurately and reliably identify traffic signals. However, existing systems have difficulty coping with complex information traffic for autonomous vehicle use. Researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany have developed new technologies to help drive assist systems recognize and distinguish between various types of shunt signals.
