Art must confront its own significance in modern society. The Enlightenment was accompanied by the death of the “highest art” that once expressed the deepest essence. Modern art has been transformed into a source of entertainment as a private affair. Not only does it challenge the distance between art and the world, but it also makes sense that art can detect art boundaries and abandon traditional art. Traditional art advocates that artists must first create beautiful objects, art is the pursuit of beauty, and modern art is the pursuit of fun, which has lost the value of humanism. It obliterates the essence of meaning existence and leads to the self-deconstruction of art. No longer does it expect art to lead a man’s meaningful life, and it is no longer a priority tool for the pursuit of truth. In this kind of living environment, the task of self-study in modern art is to truly understand the limits of the legitimacy and reality of the rule of science and technology.
