This article describes the grinding characteristics of a newly developed ultrafine polycrystalline CBN abrasive forming mild-feed, ground nickel-base superalloy. A new type of polycrystalline CBN (CBN-U) abrasive particles and a representative of the traditional single crystal CBN (CBN-B1) abrasive particles in a slow way to wear a rectangular groove in the plane grinding experiments. Grinding force was reduced 20 ~ 30% with CBN-U abrasive compared with CBN-B1. With CBN-U abrasive grinding, the radial and contour wear are small, grinding than the CBN-B1 abrasive particles about 4 times higher.
