中和之美体现中国古代艺术的根本精神。就艺术鉴赏而言，它要求艺术作品在所表现的内容和情感上做到“美善相乐，刚柔相济”，在表现形式和风格上做到“文质彬彬，华朴融和”。中和之美作为古代艺术鉴赏的最高标准，虽然有保守的一面，但其主导方面充满着辨证法，对中国传统艺术的和谐发展产生了积极的影响和极大的推动作用。
The beauty of neutralization embodies the fundamental spirit of ancient Chinese art.
