在以“仁”控欲的中国传统伦理系统中,个体情爱的叙事空间非常逼仄。个性思潮的萌发以及传奇、戏剧等文学样式的发展,为欲望形态的个体化呈现开拓了新的可能性与叙事空间。承袭晚明“以情抗理”的人文思潮与叙事传统,清末民初的小说开始注重情爱过程与心理描写,其叙事伦理呈现出在情欲与伦理之间徘徊的姿态。这种姿态恰是五四“人的文学”冲决传统文化罗网的前奏。
In the traditional Chinese ethics system with “Ren” control, the narrative space of individual love is very cramped. The germination of the trend of personality and the development of legends and plays and other literary styles opened up new possibilities and narrative space for individualized presentation of desire forms. Inheriting the humanistic thoughts and narrative traditions of late Ming and the “resistance to love”, the novels in the late Qing Dynasty and the early years of the Republic of China began to focus on the description of the process of love and the psychological description. The narrative ethics presented a hovering attitude between eroticism and ethics. This gesture is exactly the prelude to the May Fourth Movement and “Man’s Literature” that punctuated the traditional culture.
