The influence of crystallization on the corrosion behavior of Al86Ni6La6Cu2 amorphous alloy in 0.01 M NaCl solution was inves-tigated by electrochemical techniques. The Al86Ni6La6Cu2 amorphous alloy was prepared by melt spinning method, and the partially and fully crystallized states were obtained by controlled annealing. The evolution of the crystallization process after annealing was characterized by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and X-ray diffraction. The polarization curves revealed that all samples exhibited spontaneous passivation. The fully amorphous Al86Ni6La6Cu2 sample exhibited the best corrosion resistance. Partial and full crystallization resulted in de-terioration of corrosion resistance in comparison with that of the as-spun amorphous state.
