从整个世界发展趋势来看,风电设备正朝着单机大容量、变桨矩、变速恒频和直驱式方向发展。我国国产兆瓦级风机技术虽然进步较大,但距世界水平仍然存在较大差距。目前国外主流风电机组已达到兆瓦级,采用的是变桨变速的主流技术,丹麦为2.0~3.0MW,美国的主流机1.5MW,最高已有4.5MW。国内风机整机制造企业已基本掌握的是兆瓦级以下风机机组的制造技术,比较成熟且具有批量生产能力机型主要是600kW、750kW,技术类型为定桨定速技术,但还是属于国外10年前的主流机型和技术。
