Corneal disease is a type of severe eye disease that causes blindness. Corneal neovascularization (CNV) is a common pathological change in many diseases such as corneal chemical injury, trauma and infection. The cause of CNV formation is still not clear. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) may be the most important angiogenic factor in CNV formation. CNV treatment includes drugs, surgery and laser, but the effect is not satisfactory. RNA interference technology to CNV mechanism research and treatment brings new ideas. The use of siRNAs to generate silencing effects on appropriate gene targets is a potentially effective way of treating CNV.
