Objective: To study the characteristics, causes and clinical significance of hyponatremia in acute stroke. Methods: The clinical data of 200 stroke patients hospitalized in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. Results: There were 32 cases of hyponatremia in 200 cases, accounting for 16.0%. Stroke properties of hyponatremia, hypothalamic damage, and the use of dehydrating agents. There were 12 cases of coma and 8 cases of death in one week of hyponatremia patients. There were 4 cases of coma and 3 cases of death in the control group. There was significant difference between the two groups (P <0.05). Conclusion: The direct or indirect damage of the hypothalamus, the use of high-dose dehydration agent is the main cause of hyponatremia. Hyponatremia can be used as an indicator of disease judgment and prognosis.
