Objective: To explore the pathogenesis of Parkinson’s disease (PD). Methods: The rat model of selective lateral (right) PD was used to observe the changes of striatum (ST), cerebral cortex (CC), hippocampus (HP) in the normal control group and PD group (2 weeks after modeling) Tissue glutamic acid (Glu) content changes. Results: The content of Glu in the ST, CC and HP tissues on the right side of PD group was significantly lower than that of the left and right sides (P <0.01). The content of Glu in ST, CC and HP on the left side of PD group was not significantly different from that of the normal control group (P> 0.05). There was no significant difference in Glu content between ST, CC and HP in the left and right sides of normal control group (P> 0.05). Conclusion: The neurotransmitter Glu participates in the pathogenesis of ST, CC, HP injury in the area of PD involvement
