在管道焊接中,水溶性纸用作封堵材料,其作用并非阻断空气,仅增加空气流动的阻力,以达到减少空气流动保护管壁的目的。焊接高温,气体膨胀,封堵纸片,必须有一定的透气度,以防纸片被膨胀的空气顶破。漏气(封堵效果不好)的原因很多;如纸张破损,封堵或焊接操作不当等均可引起漏气。常规纸机生产水溶性纸,为防粘和流失,必须使用水不溶性CMC-H,后期再经碱处理,使转变为可溶性CMC-Na。这种工艺最大的问题是污染。建议用干法生产,直接用CMC-Na,简化生产流程也消除了污染。
