A study conducted by British clinicians shows that poor glycemic control in type 1 diabetes during early pregnancy is closely related to poor pregnancy outcomes. The study was conducted by Dr. Rosemary Temple and colleagues at Elsie Bettram Diabetes Center, Norfolk and Noiwich University Hospital. In a study of 158 pregnant women with type 1 diabetes who developed glycated hemoglobin more than 7.5% before their birth, they found that their pregnancies had a higher rate of adverse pregnancy outcomes and spontaneous abortions than their normal counterparts4 Times, the incidence of severe fetal congenital malformations 9 times higher.
