Since its inception in 1981, the minimalist sculpture “Inclined Arc”, which stands at the Commonwealth Office Square in Manhattan, New York, USA, public protests came one after another and was finally brought to court. After the court’s decision, the sculpture was eventually removed fate. This may not be accidental. Minimalism is the final result of the development of modernism. Its blunt context is disconnected from the society and finally abandoned by the public. The polemic triggered by the Arc of Incline allows us to contemplate works of art that have been rushed into public places with pure freedom and radical concepts at their core.
