每当来到晋江博物馆,看到这张蜿蜒曲折的公路老照片,我就想起奋战在滇缅公路上的华侨机工。一提到南侨机工,人们总是想起1939年陈嘉庚先生组织3000多名南侨机工赴滇缅公路上支援抗战的壮举。他们抢运军火,为抗日战争的胜利作出了重大贡献,享誉海内外。1937年七七卢沟桥事变爆发,中华民族处于生死存亡的危急关头,中国人民全面抗日战争从此开始。同年10月,中国驻菲律宾领事在《华侨商报》发表文告,号召华侨机工回国参战。消息一传开,立即得到热血华侨青年的热烈响应,两天之内报名人数达到200多人。经过一番体检和考核,最后选出24人,正式组成第一批“菲律宾华侨司机回国服务团”。全队24
Whenever I came to Jinjiang Museum and saw the pictures of the twists and turns of the road, I remembered fighting overseas Chinese workers on the Burma Road.
